The Shift

The August 21st eclipse brought with it an internet-load of information. Whether your focus was on cosmology, astrology, mythology or archetypal ponderings one thing is certain – the energetic impact is undeniable.

Feel it in your being and see it all around you. There is a visible shift in consciousness everywhere. As above so below… The absurdities of this Presidency, of party politics, education and healthcare systems, the economics of greed, are all screaming in our faces and provoking a true revolution on every level.

What a privilege to witness this as an awakened individual!

As we look back on who we were with humor and compassion, we see how much we’ve grown and we marvel at how much more there is to know. Keeping our focus in the present moment we connect with our higher wisdom and with clarity. Even though we are constantly tempted by our Egoic mind to give in to our lower instincts and to the constructs of the mind, we keep returning to the light we have glimpsed within us. People and situations cross our paths and instead of suffering we choose to learn and understand that others are learning too.

And so it is with society as a whole. Those countries which are embracing the community spirit through smart social programs rooted in early childhood support, are leading the shift. Architecture is integrating nature into sustainable habitats and neurobiology is changing the way we understand relationships. Diane Ackerman in her illuminating book The Human Age: The World Shaped by Us, argues that “Humans are relentless problem solvers who relish big adventures, and climate change is attracting a wealth of clever minds and unorthodox ideas…”

Worldwide organizations supported by local efforts are changing the lives of people and animals every single day. Ingenious initiatives ensure that migration corridors remain open to preserve species. More creatures are being recognized as sentient beings and popular movements pressure corporations to do the right thing by targeting their profit.

Individuals are empowering themselves like never before. With the advent of instant global connection, a few become many with just a click. Those who push to obtain power as a means of allaying their fear, are hitting walls. Those that welcome the change are seeing their momentum accelerate. New ideas are shaping a promising future. Technology and spirituality are entwined in a fascinating dance.

It is now clear that there is an unstoppable wave sweeping the planet. Those who ride it will awaken faster, those who resist it will succumb to it. It is just a matter of time. The Shift about which so much has been written is happening now. On a deeper level it is a shift in perception, in focus. This translates in energy being guided into what we would call positive emotions –  conscious empathy, compassion, love. The buildup of such energy results in more frequent  manifestation of opportunities to choose this path and make the planet well again. What we often perceive as tragedies or as setbacks are  chances for redemption, for healing.

So next time that you feel yourself being pulled into a pre-programmed reaction, stop, shift your focus as you become the impersonal observer of that situation and ask yourself – What is my lesson here?

Monika, a transplant from Poland and Brazil, has been practicing and studying yoga for over 20 years. She began her training in 1999 with Edely Wallace, (owner of Yoga Matrix Studio in Orlando, Florida) a yogi master, Yoga Alliance founder and author who studied in Belgium, Brazil and the US and who is at present working with lymphatic yoga research. She went on to study with Ariel Albani, a certified wellness and yoga facilitator and Reiki master. She furthered her studies while on a trip to India, practicing with different Eastern yogis and tapping into yoga as a complete path to wholeness. Monika continues to explore the infinite possibilities of wellness that yoga offers by becoming certified in Yoga Therapy at the Amrit Yoga Institute in 2015 and bringing elements of this therapy to her group yoga practice. In 2016 she was certified in the I Am method of Yoga Nidra and is weaving this technique of stilling the mind into her classes. Her Healing Yoga is a meditative flow of breath guided Asanas focused on quieting the mind and connecting with the Higher Self, in order to identify and target areas of imbalance. It is a gentle but mindful practice done with eyes closed so as to keep the focus within. Practitioners are encouraged to listen to their own bodies and to move with the breath, allowing a slow process of stretching and opening areas of holding in need of healing. Each inhale is mindfully guided to the area targeted by the specific asana. Every exhale is used to release tensions and toxins, balancing and healing spirit, mind and body.
