The Art of Allowing

We are an intrinsic part of the flow of life.

Our “reality” is constantly manifesting. We can only resist it or allow it.

When we resist what is, we create suffering for ourselves. Our thinking mind at the service of the Ego, becomes a pool of incessant chatter bringing us out of balance again and again creating dis-ease and discomfort. We complain feeling victimized and unlucky. In an attempt to control our reality, we try to control others and the world outside so as to align it with our preferences. We project our ideas of happiness upon the growth process of others and we attack those who threaten the way we want our reality to be.

But what if we could step out of the Ego mind and consciously create a stream of Allowing. Each event, each  experience when seen through the eyes of the observer becomes a moment of learning. Without resistance everything flows towards balance. By allowing reality to unfold without judging or qualifying, we step into each moment as it occurs. Here we can choose how to act so as to enable the flow in a desired direction.

The ocean of creative energy is limitless as is  our creative potential. When we tap into this source with a conscious mind, the reality we create for ourselves is the result of our deepest desires. The act of allowing without expectations of outcome frees the energy to flow optimally creating effortless well being.

The practice of quieting the thinking mind and tuning into higher wisdom prepares us for going with the flow. In meditation, slowing our brain waves accesses the subconscious and opens up the channels of feeling and intuition. With this comes a clarity of purpose and every moment can be seen as perfection in the greater scheme of things.

Events that might seem senseless when one succumbs to the drama, are in fact catalysts for transformation. We see this over and over again in daily occurrences in our own lives and the world in general. Heinous acts of violence and hate, of war and strife open up avenues of empathy and compassion. And while we are often tempted to react with outrage, a posture of contemplation of what is leads to an understanding of the universal  law of karma. For what we put out there in the form of thoughts, words or actions is what ultimately must come back to us. And so it is in the bigger picture.

For thousands of years we have collectively abused the earth and each other. With the evolution of consciousness and the technology of communication we now have the potential to escape this karmic cycle. Social media allows us to connect with each other on a level never seen before. We can choose to continue tapping into the negative or quietly move into a positive spiral, focusing on beauty, well being, cooperation and mutual support. We can see past the veil of illusion and know that what unites us is far more than what divides us. It is our  humanity and the universal desire for peace, abundance and safety for all. We can help create this utopia one word, one thought, one action at a time by adjusting our frequency with the vibration that most nourishes us in any given moment.

Allowing and then acting from a place of consciousness is a choice, the true exercise of our free will.

Allowing also raises our vibration…but more about this later.

“Getting into the Vortex” by Esther and Jerry Hicks from The Teachings of Abraham

“You are living in the times when fewer people will attempt the impossible task of pushing the unwanted far enough away that they will be left with only that which is wanted. It is the time when more people will come to the realization that what they have been seeking is not a change in the behavior of others, or in the world outside of them- over which they have no control -but instead, an understanding of their own vibrational relationship with Source, over which they have complete control.”

Of Tragedy and Healing

Begonia

There is nothing that strikes more deeply into the heart of our humanity than tragedy.

Only recently a lone gunman killed 49 and wounded 53 more in a gay club in Orlando.

It was the biggest mass shooting in US history. Weeks later we continue to focus on tragedy – confrontations between police and blacks in Baton Rouge, Dallas, Houston and Minneapolis and an uprising reminiscent  of the civil rights marches.

Challenging times are upon us, and while we are reluctant to acknowledge it,  it is all in divine order. This is how we create yet another shift in our collective growth.

The love of power has brought out the dark side of us. For several thousands of years now, we have walked the path of division and of greed. We create a reality that is ugly and painful. Today, in this country, the money trail leads to an all powerful gun lobby, an obscene war machine, a murderous healthcare system, toxic energy beasts and an ego driven government that plays to big money interests and ignores the people it is meant to serve.

But this is how revolutions are made…

While we mourn the Pulse victims and blame Muslims for our misfortune, the real culprits are on the loose. When the US  invaded Iraq, we chose to stand by as revenge for 9/11 dictated our destiny. Because of this war, hundreds of thousands of men, women and children have lost their homes, their loved ones, their lives. It sparked conflict throughout the Middle East and created a massive refugee crisis that is breaking apart countries and people.

The hate and division that have resulted from our destruction are eating away at the very foundations of our species. Inequality in a system that has been for ages rigged to serve the Ego now generates anger and racial violence.  Powerful emotions abound.

However, these same riveting emotions are also behind people of all creeds, races and gender uniting in massive peaceful protests for change…

It is so much easier to blame others for our misfortunes. And yet,  we are our own biggest enemies. We are the war mongers when we share hateful messages on our social media. We are the shooters when we fail to speak up or act to diffuse violence. We are the greedy corporations when we choose to buy products that harm  other creatures and destroy our planet. We are the prisoners of a poisoned mindset. We are the creators of our own reality.

But reality doesn’t have to look like this….

The path is clear. We need tragedies, heartbreak and loss to shake our very foundations, to unite us,  to change our collective thinking, to move us in a different direction, to heal us.

When we complete the shift from the love of power to the power of love, no one will need to suffer. There will be no more tragedies. There will be no more wars, no more shootings, no more holocausts. Earth and its creatures will live in cooperation and harmony. Science and technology will serve to elevate humanity. Then, and only then, will we be the true masters of our destiny.

For now we can begin by practicing allowing all that is, in Getting Unstuck  – a free 21-day meditation series by Deepak Chopra that begins tomorrow. Enjoy!
